Our mission:
To empower the D/deaf, hard of hearing to become successfully self employed through training and business development assistance; to enable businesses to provide adequate services for the D/deaf and hearing impaired through training and marketing programs. D.E.A.F puts the dream of business success within the reach of those with special circumstances, and helps to create unity between the D/deaf and hearing community.
Who we are:
We’re experts in business training, development, and marketing. For years we’ve successfully worked with large and small companies such as Avis Rent A Car, Haggar Clothing, Slender Lady Franchisees, At Your Service, Hodge Clean Windows, E Spur Inc, and Dallas Community College District. We’ve conducted trainings for audiences such as the Association of Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC), Baylor University, IRS Department of the Treasury North Texas Region, Minority Business Development Centers (MBDC), Women’s Business Development Centers, and Small Business Administration (SBA).
Though we’ve worked with businesses of all sizes, we have an affinity for working with small business owners. As a disabled veteran minority owned business we felt it was important to provide quality training to disabled individuals wanting to become business owners. As we began researching how we could best serve these entrepreneurs we got involved in the D/deaf community. Upon seeing that there was a need for regular self employment and business development training, we put together a program specifically for D/deaf and hard of hearing entrepreneurs in ASL.
This program is in many ways the first of its kind, not only providing self employment and business training in full ASL, but also tailoring the program to meet the unique needs of Deaf entrepreneurs. They have challenges and needs that are unlike any other segment of society. By addressing these and providing high quality entrepreneurial education Deaf entrepreneurs will not only succeed but they will gain access to opportunities that many hearing individuals take for granted.
Our Goal:
We have two major goals. The first is to educate and empower Deaf (and disabled) entrepreneurs on how to be successfully self employed and enjoy the benefits of business ownership. Without adequate training this is not an option for the D/deaf; which means they remain reliant on the government for their needs. The D/deaf are very capable and have a strong sense of pride. They want to be independent; they just need the training to make this happen.
Second we want to empower businesses to adequately service the needs of D/deaf consumers. With proper training and use of communication techniques, businesses can easily increase their bottom line and add to their customer base. By becoming a D/deaf friendly business, companies from all industries will not only increase profits, they can participate in bringing unity to the D/deaf and hearing communities helping to create a world without barriers. Unlimited services mean unlimited profits™.
